REFLECTIONS OF LIFE & LOVE
This book is a compilation of poems and motivational reflections focused on life, disappointments, spiritual growth, love interests, and emotional strength. Working on this project reminded me that sharing experiences and emotions through my writing is the best way I can help myself and others.
As I approach middle age, what I call, “the best years of my life,” it has brought focus to me. I have learned what is important in life and can look back as well as forward, and have the chance to merge the choices I’ve already made into the changes I want to bring into my life. Writing these poems helped me to bring clarity and insight to feelings that in the past have been baffling or inconsistent to me. In our society today we sometimes misuse our language and I find that poetry gives us a chance to express our true sentiments, without fear and inhibition.
The book is divided into three sections –Something New," "Something Borrowed," and “Something Old.” I saw this as an opportunity to combine some of my old favorites with my new works. My favorite section is the one titled "Something New." I have had another amazing journey through life in the past year and this section was written with great feelings of love, anger, faith, courage, strength and forgiveness.
As I mature and while writing this book I came to the realization that having a successful career is not all that is important in life. If you do not have success in your relationships with family, friends and the people you fall in love with, you have very little. This past year, I learned that I have to allow myself to be happy and that there will be times when I will struggle, but most importantly, I have to pick myself up from the struggle, move steadfast and make the changes that I want to see in my life. This book of poems and motivational quotes reflects my deepest passions with words that I hope will motivate you and touch your life as it has mine.
